What is Droëwors?

Originally, droëwors was created as a way for South African pioneers to preserve meat without refrigeration. Ground beef (sometimes mixed with lamb) was seasoned with coriander, black pepper, vinegar, salt, and then stuffed into animal casings to air-dry in the South African heat. This simple but ingenious method kept the meat safe, portable, and full of flavor for their long treks and hunting trips.

Now compare that to the “beef sticks” you’ll find in most U.S. grocery stores. They are often filled with nitrates, preservatives, sugar, and artificial flavorings to extend shelf life and imitate the taste of real meat. New research has even linked these processed meats with higher risks of heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

That’s why we’re dedicated to bringing you the original, authentic taste of Droëwors. We use only the finest USDA-certified beef, our family’s legendary spice blend, and the same traditional air-drying process passed down for generations.

Finally a lean, clean beef stick with a snap.
